Key Responsibilities

Fixed Network & Service Planning

  • Perform end-to-end routing and service planning for customer connections.
  • Plan fixed-network lines, circuits, and customer/service connections.
  • Determine technically appropriate network routes based on network topology, infrastructure, and available resources.
  • Allocate required ports, interfaces, and time slots.
  • Analyse existing transport and access-network infrastructure and available capacity.
  • Optimise the utilisation of transport and access-network resources.
  • Monitor network capacity and identify current and future capacity constraints.
  • Propose technically appropriate solutions to address network capacity limitations.
  • Assess the impact of new services and connections on existing network resources.

Implementation & Commissioning Support

  • Create switching, provisioning, and change orders as required.
  • Prepare detailed implementation and switching instructions.
  • Validate planning data prior to implementation.
  • Support network implementation and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical queries during commissioning.
  • Support network migrations, expansions, and technology upgrades.
  • Coordinate with relevant engineering, operations, and implementation teams to ensure successful service delivery.

Network Documentation & Inventory

  • Prepare, maintain, and update network planning documentation.
  • Maintain accurate connectivity records and network inventory data.
  • Ensure planning and inventory data accurately reflect the network configuration.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between planning data, network inventory, and the actual network.
  • Ensure all relevant network resources and connections are correctly documented.

Quality Assurance & Process Compliance

  • Perform quality control checks against defined network-planning guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure planning outputs meet defined quality, accuracy, and completeness targets.
  • Validate technical and planning data before implementation.
  • Identify planning and data-quality issues and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with defined planning processes, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of network-planning processes and data quality.

Education & Experience

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant experience in fixed-network planning, network engineering, or telecommunications operations.
  • Practical knowledge of transport and access networks.
  • Experience with network inventory and work-management systems.
  • Experience with network provisioning, commissioning, migrations, or upgrades is an advantage.
  • Experience in a telecommunications service-provider environment is preferred.
