Connected Britain 2025: Highlights and Key Takeaways for the UK Telecom Industry

Last week, Connect44 was proud to be represented by our Services Director, James Searle, at Connected Britain 2025 at ExCeL London - the UK’s premier event on digital infrastructure.

With over 8,000 professionals across telecoms, tech, and policy in attendance, the event once again proved to be an invaluable platform for understanding where our industry is heading and how we can collectively shape its future.

Connected Britain has become a key part of Connect44’s annual calendar. It gives us the chance to hear directly from operators on strategy, growth ambitions, and the challenges we’ll face together as the connectivity landscape evolves. From keynote presentations to interactive workshops, the event offered a rare opportunity to gain insights straight from decision-makers driving UK digital infrastructure.

Standing in the halls of ExCeL, it was hard not to be energised by the buzz of collaboration, the inspirational keynote sessions (not to mention the flash mob!), and the clear sense that the future of UK telecoms is more ambitious than ever.

Our key takeaways from this year:

·        Fibre Rollout Momentum: The UK’s full-fibre rollout continues to accelerate. With over 100 alternative network providers in the market, collaboration and consolidation will be critical. It was fascinating to hear competitive debate on stage between Openreach, CityFibre and Netomnia.

·        5G Deployment Challenges: The promise of 5G is clear, but overcoming infrastructure costs and regulatory hurdles remains essential to realising its potential.

·        Social Value: A highlight was hearing social value and digital inclusion discussed outside the procurement lens.  A brilliant workshop by @Evie Metcalfe (VMO2) reminded us of the importance of becoming true Digital Champions.

·        Sustainable Infrastructure: Green, energy-efficient networks are no longer optional; they’re central to operators’ long-term plans.

·        AI & Automation in Networks: As expected, AI and automation dominated discussions, from predictive maintenance to intelligent traffic routing, driving efficiency and resilience across networks.

After two full days (and a well-earned pint at the brilliantly named Dog & Duct), it was a pleasure to connect with so many partners.

Connected Britain 2025 reaffirmed the importance of collaboration, innovation, and communication as we shape the UK’s digital future. At Connect44, we’re excited to take these insights forward to continue delivering cutting-edge solutions for our clients.

See you at Connected Britain 2026 !
